Nina-Skye's Very 1st Sleep-Over

The First of many to come...I'm sure!

Nina-Skye and her Guest-Of-Honor & Big Brother (to let him tell it) Paul had their very first Sleep-Over! It was a great night of Giggles, Games, Playing Tea Party, Playing Tag and of course watching Wow! Wow! Wubbzy on Noggin! After brushing their teeth, then of course we had to read a good book or two.

Yes that is a hair bonnet on Paul. Nina-Skye had one on so Paul asked if he could have one as well... and of course we had to oblige him!

"Wanna Get Away?" Well...Let's Go To The Alamo!

Arnold & Nina-Skye allowed me to flee for a week to San Antonio, TX for the Administrative Professionals Conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. So of course,
I had to go to the Alamo!!!

Did you know the Alamo was home to both Revolutionaries and Royalists during Mexico's ten-year struggle for independence. The military which varied as Spanish, Rebel an Mexican occupied the Alamo until the Texas Revolution in December 1835. In February 1836 General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's army began its siege and the defenders of the Alamo held out for 13 fateful days. On the 8th day of the siege, the commander whom had sent out men on horses with pleas for help from the neighboring communities in Texas, got a huge helping hand from 32 volunteers which increased the number of defenders to almost 200. The volunteers took it upon themselves to "stay & fight" because they felt they it was their duty to do so, rather than surrender to General Santa Anna. Among the volunteers were Jim Bowie, the infamous knife fighter (hence the name Bowie Knife) and David Crockett, the infamous frontiersman and FORMER Tennessee Congressman...who knew! Unfortunately, "The Battle at the Alamo" ended after the desperate struggle on March 6, 1836.

The Beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk.
