The Day I lost my Daddy.

💙 After a 20 year battle with Multiple Myeloma...A cancer of plasma cells... My Dad Warren T. Smith, Sr passed away in hospice on August 18, 2014. 💙

💙 My husband Arnold & I were in Ocho Rios, Jamaica celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary! I was blessed to see him a two days before he passed away but more blessed to of had such a great father for 49 years!

He was a TROOPER & battled his cancer with strength & dignity unlike most men. It broke my heart to see random tears run from his eyes. I wondered what caused them... pain, fear or love! He had a great sense of humor & an infectious laugh which I will surely miss. Thank you Lord for blessing us with my Daddy, may he Rest In Peace! 💙

Rare

Fewer than 200,000 US cases per year

Treatable by a medical professional

Requires a medical diagnosis

Lab tests or imaging always required

The plasma cells are a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow. With this condition, a group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count.

Symptoms may not be present or may be non-specific, such as loss of appetite, bone pain, and fever.

Treatments include medications, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, radiation, or a stem-cell transplant.
